Renée Dewell

Lead Public Health Veterinarian

Dr. Renée Dewell is a veterinary specialist in the Center for Food Security and Public Health (CFSPH) and an active member of the Iowa Beef Center at Iowa State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science from Texas A&M and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Colorado State University. She has operated a mobile practice, worked as a clinical instructor at the Great Plains Veterinary Education Center (GPVEC), and completed a post-doc at Colorado State University. Dr. Dewell completed an internship (GPVEC), a certificate in Beef Cattle Production Management (GPVEC) and earned a master’s degree in Veterinary Science (epidemiology) from the University of Nebraska in 2001. Renée serves in various capacities in the AVC, AABP, IVMA, and AVMA and is a member of the National Veterinary Response Team and the Veterinary Medical Assistance Team.
