Feline Diseases and Resources

Cats were first domesticated over 4000 years ago and today there are over 50 different breeds. Cats are a common pet worldwide. In the U.S. approximately 85 million households have a cat; China and Russia have similar numbers. Cats provide companionship to people and help to improve physical and mental health and serve useful purposes, such as rodent or bird control. The diseases listed here are important transboundary animal diseases of felines. Some of these are zoonotic.
