The Center for Food Security and Public Health (CFSPH)

The mission of the CFSPH is to increase national and international preparedness for accidental or intentional introduction of diseases that threaten food production or public health. The CFSPH was established in 2002 and provides

  • Accurate information on transboundary animal diseases and zoonotic diseases
  • Online education for veterinary students and animal health professionals
  • Tools for infection control
  • Resources for local, state, and federal agencies to prepare for animal emergencies

Both the CFSPH and IICAB are located in the Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine and are funded by grants and cooperative agreements from federal and state governments, nonprofit organizations, and industry. The CFSPH and IICAB have the same staff, director, and office space.
