New Secure Food Supply Section

The Department of Homeland Security Career Development Fellowship Awards in Zoonotic and Animal Disease Defense welcomes applications from students pursuing studies at any university affiliated with the National Center for Foreign Animal and Zoonotic Disease Defense (FAZD Center), the Center of Excellence for Emerging and Zoonotic Diseases (CEEZAD), and the Center for Food Security and Public Health (CFSPH) as part of a new Graduate Level Career Development Program in Zoonotic and Animal Disease Defense (ZADD) offered by this consortium.

New Surveillance Epidemiology and Tracing Guidelines

The Surveillance, Epidemiology, and Tracing Guidelines are a preparedness resource that provide guidance for official response personnel on surveillance, epidemiology, and tracing principles for animal health emergency deployments. This includes: detecting new and existing cases (animals or premises), understanding characteristics of the disease and the outbreak, identifying risk factors associated with disease occurrence, providing information for decision-making to design and implement disease control measures, and evaluating the effectiveness of the control measures implemented.

Web Course Offering for Veterinary CE Credits

The Emerging and Exotic Diseases of Animals web-based course, used at all U.S. veterinary colleges, will be offered October 8 - November 20 for 12 continuing education credits for veterinarians or veterinary technicians. Participants also receive a textbook valued at $70. Cost is $150.
