APHIS-Approved Supplemental Training Options for
the USDA-APHIS National Veterinary Accreditation Program
Category I Accredited Veterinarians must complete three units of supplemental training to renew their accreditation. Similarly, Category II Accredited Veterinarians must complete six units. This training is achieved through completion of APHIS-approved modules. More information about the NVAP is available at:

The CFSPH at Iowa State University, College of Veterinary Medicine has been working with USDA-APHIS to develop APHIS-approved supplemental training materials for the National Veterinary Accreditation Program (NVAP) since the fall of 2003. The NVAP supplemental training requirements must be met in order to maintain authorization to perform accreditation duties.
Veterinarians seeking to renew their USDA accreditation can choose from three different supplemental training formats. USDA requires that certificates of completion be issued with each form of APHIS-approved training. The certificate serves as your individual proof of module completion; please retain them for your records. Training audits will be conducted periodically.
