(NVSL), the USDA Agricultural Research Services (ARS) National
Animal Disease Center (NADC), and the Iowa State University (ISU)
College of Veterinary Medicine.
Program Topics
Block 1. (May 10-12) Immunology
and Principles of Vaccination intended for individuals who have
not recently studied immunology, who want an overview and update
of immunology as it applies to resistance to infectious disease.
Block
2. (May 15-19) Procedures for Ensuring Vaccine Safety and Efficacy
reviews the requirements and processes for licensing/registration
and testing of veterinary biological products and reviews the
inspection and compliance process for production, release and post-marketing
surveillance of veterinary biological products covered under the
Virus-Serum-Toxin Act. Information will be presented by regulatory
officials from the USDA APHIS VS Center for Veterinary Biologics.
Block
3. (May 22-24) Potency and Safety Testing and Diagnostic Test
Kit Evaluation reviewed the principles and procedures for laboratory
testing of biologics and diagnostic test kits.
(May 25) International Government participants only. Toured small
biologics production facility.
