The
Virulence Mechanisms of Bacterial Pathogens, International
Symposium will be held at the Scheman Conference Center
on September 6-8, 2006. The Scheman Conference Center
is part of the Iowa State Center east of the Iowa State
University Campus in Ames, Iowa.
Iowa State

in research and technology transfer accomplishments.
In recent years, Iowa State has launched bold new research
and technology transfer initiatives in such important
areas as agricultural biotechnology, plant and animal
genomics, bioinformatics, "smart" materials,
agricultural product and market development, human nutrition,
human computer performance, biorenewables and food safety
and security. Iowa State's nearly 2,000-acre, park-like
campus includes more than 160 buildings.
The
Scheman Conference Center is a multifunctional facility.
It has the following specifications that can be set up
to accommodate specific meeting purposes and needs.
- 21 meeting rooms, varying in size and design
- 8,000 square
feet of exhibit space in large, comfortable lobby areas
- 2,600
square feet of outdoor, covered exhibit space
- Complete
booth set up, drapery, tables, and chairs
- Two loading
docks to simplify the transportation of equipment and
exhibits
- Ample free parking adjacent to the building
- A 450-seat
auditorium with modern audiovisual and telecommunications
equipment, satellite transmission equipment, and simultaneous
multilingual translation capabilities
- A complete audio-visual
center, with up-to-date equipment and personnel to handle
its operation. Overhead projectors, slide projectors,
projection screen, and microphones are included with
each meeting room
