Zoonotic diseases are pathogens carried by animals that may be spread to humans. Taking basic prevention steps can greatly minimize the risk of disease. The Center for Food Security and Public Health has developed condensed (1-page) disease fact sheets, called Fast Facts, to provide the general public a brief overview of selected zoonotic diseases. The materials were designed as handouts for clients, youth agriculture groups or other general public audiences. Each handout provides brief information about the disease, clinical signs seen in animals and humans, and prevention steps. More information on each of these diseases can be found in our Disease Factsheet area.
