Foreign Animal Disease Awareness Course

A foreign animal disease (FAD) outbreak can have adverse impacts on our nation’s economy, public health, and the welfare of our livestock, companion animals, and wildlife. This course contains information on a number of FADs, their significance, and the need for prompt identification and response.

The mission of USDA-APHIS Veterinary Services (VS) is to protect and improve the health, quality, and marketability of our nation’s animals, animal products, and veterinary biologics by preventing, controlling, and/or eliminating animal diseases. In this course, you will learn about the role and responsibilities of VS and its partners to collectively work in the control and eradication of the specific program diseases.

 

 
 

ICS 100 Training

The Incident Command System (ICS) is a standardized, on-scene, incident management concept. ICS uses an integrated organizational structure to meet the complexities and demands of single or multiple incidents without being hindered by jurisdictional boundaries. This course provides an introduction into ICS, its organizational structure, and the role of participants using the system.

 

 
 

ICS 200 Training

This course expands on the ICS 100 course by providing further detail into the ICS. Students will learn how ICS is used in an agricultural disaster-related scenario.

 

 

 

 

ICS 300 Training
CE credits
: 4hrs*
This course builds on the ICS 200 course and presents a more in depth look at the ICS and the vital role that the students can play. ICS 300 provides training and resources for personnel who will hold supervisory positions within ICS.

 

 

 

 

NIMS Training

The National Incident Management System (NIMS) is a in-depth, national approach to incident management that is applicable at all jurisdictional levels and across multiple disciplines. This course provides the basis for understanding NIMS and how it improves coordination and cooperation between public and private entities in a variety of situations.

 
 

IVRRT Core Training
CE credits :
4hrs*
This course is composed of audio Flash presentations that describe the organization of the Iowa Veterinary Rapid Response Team and how it is incorporated into the response of a disease outbreak disaster, whether it be local, regional, or national. The audio presentations are supplemented with pictures, graphs, and maps which illustrate and underline the points being discussed.
