Kayoko Kimura, DVM, PhD

Dr. Kimura received her DVM and M.S. from Iwate University and Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology in Japan, respectively. She worked as a practitioner for dairy cattle after receiving her M.S., and worked in Syria as a member of the Japanese Peace Corp. She worked for a pharmaceutical company for veterinary use for 10.5 years as a research scientist and a chief of pharmacological and chemical section until she came to the U.S. to receive her PhD (BMS) from ISU. Her research area for PhD and post doc at NADC focused mainly on periparturient immunosuppression of dairy cows until she joined CFSPH. Currently she has been conducting research on immune functions of livestock, fish and dogs.

Ratree Platt, DVM, PhD

Dr. Platt received her DVM from Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand in 1979, a Vet.Med.Lic. in Veterinary Virology from Swedish University of Agricultural Science, Uppsala, Sweden in 1991 and a Ph.D. in Veterinary Microbiology from Iowa State University in 2000. She was a faculty member in Veterinary Microbiology at Chulalongkorn University for 16 years. Dr. Platt currently works with faculty in the ISU College of Veterinary Medicine to design, conduct and report on experiments involving immune function of livestock. She manages many projects in the immunology laboratory and provides input and assistance for a number of CFSPH activities.

Thomas Skadow received his Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from the University of Wisconsin – Platteville in 1986. He has been working in Dr. Roth’s research laboratory since 1989 and assists in all research and management activities of the laboratory.
