An OIE Collaborating Centre
OIE Collaborating Centre for Day-One Veterinary
Competencies and Continuing Education
The CFSPH was designated as a World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) Collaborating Centre in May 2016.
The CFSPH has been developing educational materials for veterinary students and veterinarians since 2001. Activities include development and delivery of the Exotic and Emerging Diseases of Animals (EEDA) online course offered to veterinary students throughout the United States. The CFSPH also develops and delivers the APHIS-Approved Supplemental Training for the National Veterinary Accreditation Program. Veterinarians use this training to renew their USDA accreditation status. Twenty-six modules are available and more than 100,000 online modules were completed by veterinarians in 2015.
The CFSPH is currently working with OIE to develop online training for government officials who report disease outbreaks using the OIE reporting system. In the future, the CFSPH hopes to work with partners to develop and deliver online training that reflects the OIE recommendations on the competencies of graduating veterinarians. For more information on OIE visit their website at www.oie.int
