Ms. Ausen graduated from Iowa State University in December of 2005, having completed her BFA in Graphic Design as well as a Design Studies minor emphasizing Photography. She was hired by the CFSPH in August of 2006, following a one-year internship with the Interactive Media Lab of the College of Veterinary Medicine, ISU. In addition to these two positions within the college, Dani also completed a one and a half year internship as a designer with a video and multimedia company. At the CFSPH, her responsibilities involve print and some web design, incorporating her specialties in page layout, illustration, and photography.


Naomi Backous, BS

Mrs. Backous received her Bachelor's of Science in Management Information Systems in 2002 from Iowa State University. Naomi began working full time for CFSPH in 2003 and was responsible for packaging scientific educational content for meetings and assisted in hosting public events. She manages CFSPH database content and is proficient in numerous computer applications. As part of the technology team, she maintains the website, converts educational materials into web format, and supports the team of veterinary specialists.


Travis Engelhaupt, BS

Mr. Engelhaupt received his Bachelor's of Science degree in Computer Science at Iowa State University in 2003. He has been developing Internet-based courses and learning materials since 1999 for the Astronomy Department and the Center for Nondestructive Evaluation at Iowa State University. Hired by the Center for Food Security and Public Health in June 2003, he helps coordinate the CFSPH technology and design staff on numerous educational, web-based, and promotional projects. In the of fall of 2006, Mr. Engelhaupt started graduate school in Human Computer Interaction.


Andrew Kingsbury, BFA

Mr. Kingsbury received his BFA in Graphic Design in December of 2004. He has worked in the interactive design/development field for the past four years including a job with Dr. Holly Bender's Biomedical Informatics Research Group in the Department of Veterinary Pathology. Most recently he worked for a design firm located in the Des Moines area where he was able to exercise his interactive design skills. Hired in July of 2007, his main responsibilities include the development of instructional materials and website design.


Venkat Rao, MBA, BIT

Mr. Rao received his Bachelor's of Information Technology degree from University of Delhi in 2003 and his MBA from Illinois State University in 2007. Before coming to the United States he worked as a Senior Process trainer in an IBM subsidiary in India. At Illinois State University, he worked as a graduate assistant in Disability Concerns and was responsible for maintaining their web-based applications. Hired by the CFSPH in January 2008, he helps develop and maintain numerous web-based applications, and participates in systems planning and development to accommodate future center-related projects.

 

 

The mission of the CFSPH is to increase national preparedness for accidental or intentional introduction of disease agents that threaten food production or public health.
